EVERYONE DESERVES TO BE SAFE and free from fear and abuse
Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive and assaultive behaviors that adults and adolescents use against their intimate partners.
It is the pattern of multiple tactics and repeated events that contribute to the trauma survivors experience. Tactics used by an abuser may include intimidation, isolation, coercion, control, emotional abuse, financial control and often physical and sexual violence against their partner.
Recovering from the trauma of an abusive relationship takes time. Getting support is key to your safety, hope and healing process.
Hope & Safety Alliance can assist you in making decisions that are right for you. Our crisis and support line is confidential and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can speak with an Advocate who will help you learn about the services and resources available to you, they will offer information, resources, safety planning and support.
All our advocacy services and many of our group activities are offered in both English and Spanish. Interpretation services are available in other languages including ASL and other visual communication.

About Restraining Orders: This can be a confusing process and we are here to help. It’s free, you don’t need a lawyer and we can assist you with the process, even accompanying you at Lane County Courthouse. Police are mandated to arrest an abuser if they have reason to believe a domestic crime of assault has occurred. In your request for the restraining order you can ask that the police go with you to get belongings from your home.
Talk to Someone You Trust - Friends and family members, clergy, school counselors, medical professionals, neighbors, or coworkers may be sources of support, ideas or referrals.
You can choose to leave or stay with an abusive person. It is your choice and your choice alone. Here are some suggestions to help you safety plan, whatever decision you make.
Safety planning
If there is a fight, try to be in a room with an exit and not in the bathroom, kitchen, or near weapons.
Practice how to get out of your home safely. Which doors, windows, elevator, or stairs would be best?
Tell a neighbor to watch for signs of violence and ask them to call the police.
Have a code word to use with your children, family, and friends to let them know you need the police.
REMEMBER: You don’t deserve to be hit or threatened. You deserve to be free from fear and abuse.
